The Crystal Quest Rover is a portable reverse osmosis system built for situations where reliable clean water is not guaranteed. It produces 200 gallons per day, runs entirely on 12V or 24V DC power, and needs no generator, no shore power, and no inverter. Connect it to a solar panel, a battery bank, or a 12V truck outlet and it works. This is the system for homesteaders working off-grid, overlanders, and anyone who cannot or will not rely on a municipal supply.
Crystal Quest Rover Portable Reverse Osmosis System Key Features
- 200 GPD Output: This is serious production for a portable unit. 200 gallons per day covers the drinking and cooking needs of a small household drawing from well water, surface water, or brackish sources. Most countertop RO systems produce 50-75 GPD. The Rover produces 200.
- 12/24V DC Power: Runs on 12V or 24V DC directly. No AC outlet needed and no inverter needed. Pairs natively with Jackery or similar portable battery stations, with solar panels, and with any 12V vehicle power source.
- Diaphragm Pump: The Rover uses a diaphragm motor and pump, the standard choice for off-grid applications. Diaphragm pumps are reliable, field-serviceable, and widely understood. Parts are available almost anywhere.
- Portable Form Factor: The unit measures 35 by 22.5 by 13.75 inches and weighs 55 pounds. It can be moved, transported, and mounted in a trailer or outbuilding. This is not a permanent whole-house installation.
- TFC Membrane Technology: Uses a 2521 TFC HF1 thin-film composite RO membrane element. Replacement membranes are widely available and standardized (CQE-RC-04084).
- 33-50% Recovery Rate: Standard for reverse osmosis. For every gallon of purified water produced, 1 to 2 gallons are discharged as concentrate. This is a physics constraint of RO technology, not a product flaw. Plan your water source volume and waste discharge accordingly.
- Simple Filter Replacement: Three replaceable filter elements: a UF membrane, a freshwater RO membrane, and a coconut-based 5-micron carbon block. All are sized to standard dimensions with published SKUs.

Compatible Add-Ons
- Replacement UF Membrane (CQE-RC-04055): 2-7/8" x 9-3/4" ultrafiltration membrane. Replace based on source water quality and flow rate decline.
- Replacement RO Membrane (CQE-RC-04084): 2.5" x 21" freshwater TFC membrane. Most users replace this every 2-3 years depending on use frequency and source water quality.
- Replacement Carbon Block (CQE-RC-04000): Coconut-based 5-micron carbon block, 2-7/8" x 9-3/4". Replaces periodically to protect the RO membrane from chlorine and particulate contamination.
