Every system is factory-tested before shipping and arrives operational. Prefilters extend membrane life. As long as prefilters and membranes are replaced on schedule, these systems are designed to run 15-20 years.
Important note on RO water: Reverse osmosis removes minerals from water, which can lower pH and potentially affect plumbing and taste over time. The optional remineralizer add-on adds essential minerals back and raises pH -- recommended for whole-home installations.
