The Jackery Solar Generator 5000 Plus is a whole-home backup system for homesteaders who need real power when the grid goes down. The Explorer 5000 Plus starts at 5,040Wh and scales to 60kWh by adding Battery Pack 5000 Plus units via the DC Expansion Port. With 7,200W of rated AC output and true dual-voltage 120V/240V capability from a single unit, it runs high-draw loads including a 5-ton central AC unit, well pumps, and shop equipment. Solar Generator 5000 Plus Key Features
- 7,200W rated AC output (14,400W surge): Four NEMA 5-20 outlets at 120V plus one NEMA L14-30R/14-50 outlet at 120V/240V. Runs 5-ton central air (7,200W load), well pumps, and most household circuits simultaneously. True dual voltage from one unit.
- Expandable to 60kWh: Each Battery Pack 5000 Plus unit adds 5,040Wh via the DC Expansion Port (80.5V-126V, 41A Max). Reach up to 60kWh of total storage for multi-day backup without grid input.
- LiFePO4 battery, 4,000-cycle rated: 11-year lifespan at one cycle per day. LiFePO4 is more thermally stable than NMC chemistry, maintains performance in temperature extremes, and does not carry the same thermal runaway risk.
- 4,000W max solar input: High-PV MC4 input accepts 135V-450V at 15A. Bundled SolarSaga 500X panels are IP68-rated at 500W each. Full recharge from two panels in 6.5-8.5 hours of direct sun. Max solar input eliminates the need for a daisy-chained recharge cycle.
- Smart Transfer Switch support: The AC Expansion Port (240V, 30A, 7,200W) connects to a Jackery Smart Transfer Switch covering up to 12 home circuits. Switchover in less than 20ms in backup mode, 0ms in online UPS mode.
- Online UPS with 0ms switchover: In online mode, output never interrupts. Protects sensitive electronics, NAS drives, medical equipment, and refrigeration from grid fluctuations.
- Quiet operation: Runs at approximately 30 dB. A standard gas generator runs at 65-75 dB. This unit does not require fuel, produces no exhaust, and can operate indoors.
